Occupy Oakland

The occupiers at Occupy Oakland were Evicted early this morning. Word "slipped" to some of the Media in the area that at 4:30am (wst) that the Occupiers of Oakland California were going to be evicted. The Media was out in force with cameras at the ready as the police from multiple different counties came in with special force vehicles as well as full riot gear. There was use of non-harmful weapons such as rubber bullets, tear gas, and flash bang grenades. There is already video up and many blogs about this. This is wrong. These people were non-violent, and just utilizing their First Amendment. For those who don't know what the First Amendment is, let me tell you.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

These people, your family, your friends, and even people you don't know are standing as one group, one VOICE among many, to speak out for our rights, for our government to actually listen to the plight of the people. Then you have these mayors and governors who are sending in legions of cops to evict peaceful protesters.

I have also heard reports that supposedly the protesters were the ones who released the tear gas. This blogger knows better. It's only a matter of time before either Martial Law is en-stated or one cop is going to go too far and it will be an all out war within our country. You don't think it effects you? You are very seriously mistaken. These are YOUR RIGHTS TOO, that are being infringed upon, YOUR money the banks are taking and spending on frivolous and useless things that most of us never even see. Stand TOGETHER in SOLIDARITY! STAND AND HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD! TELL THE GOVERNMENT THAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL NOT BE PUSHED AROUND AT THE EXPENSE OF THE WORKING CLASS HEALTH AND MONEY WE PUMP INTO THE ECONOMY! TELL THE GOVERNMENT WE ARE SICK OF THE LIES THEY TELL US ABOUT ACTING ON OUR BEHALF!

At this point, no matter if you vote or not, there will be a new elected official that will not be elected by the American people. The electoral college is bought and sold the same as the government so many desperately cling to. The System IS BROKEN, scrap it and rebuild it.

THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD FEAR THE PEOPLE, THE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT FEAR THEIR GOVERNMENT!!! WE ARE THE 99%, WE ARE TIRED OF BEING PUSHED AROUND AND BULLIED BY THE CORPORATIONS AND CRONY GOVERNMENT! STAND UP, AND BE HEARD!!!!!!!!!

Update: Sunday, Occupy Maine in Portland was also attacked  by use of a chemical bomb.
"Portland police Sgt. Glen McGary said the bomb was thrown into the camp’s kitchen, a tarped area where food is cooked and served. Protest organizers said the explosion lifted a large table about a foot off the ground."

Interviews and GA Meeting in Newark De

Tonight there was a wonderful GA meeting. We passed 2 proposals with amendments USING DEMOCRACY!!! and though it took a little while, everyone was pretty satisfied with the end results. You can view that below.

This blogger was also very lucky in retrieving 2 new interviews from 2 very happy occupiers who were present tonight. I was also surprised to be interviewed by 2 lovely ladies from the University of Delaware for a project they are doing; as well as by one of the members of the News Journal. I will post later on those comings and if the material was used or not. I'm hoping the Ladies from UD will post their project on youtube if possible.
You can find the interviews I did this evening along with some pictures of some of the people who were present below.

Here's a few video clips for you to watch, from the last GA. These video's show the Diversity of the group, and how democracy, though messy, works when we work together. The volume is a little low, sorry about that, make sure you turn up your speakers.

To the next order of business, I keep seeing all these people saying that the Occupy Wall St Protesters quote" Need to get jobs".

To those who keep spewing this same rhetoric as the elite, There ARE NO JOBS! The few jobs that are out there are usually minimum wage and part time work. One of the motivations behind the protests is that the working wage for people is so low that you can't even live off of it. For the wealthiest Nation in the world, why do people have to work 7 days a week putting in 80 hrs a week just to make ends meet. I'll give you a great example. My Mother works for a company who asks their managers to put in a minimum of 50 hours a week. She is salary but only clears about $500 a week (her salary is around $700). She has her fair share of bills but still, barely gets by. She works, she supports Occupy, and even she sees that there is something wrong with what our government does and allows.

So you people can stop saying to go get jobs. Many out there DO have jobs. The protesters are the same people most of you see every day. They have kids, they have a family pet, they go to church, synagogue, temple, or grove. Which leads into the next thing I constantly hear " the protesters are parasites". This lack of empathy for those who are worse off than yourself is one of the reasons our country has homeless on the streets starving children, and injured or sick Vets who can't get the necessities they need. The only Parasites I see are those who lack empathy and think that what our government does is okay, when it clearly is not.

My next little rant is about the NYPD = Gang. These officers of the law are over stepping their boundaries. They don't have a good reputation to begin with, but if you haven't seen what these people have done, just watch these videos. THIS IS NOT OKAY!!!

  1. NYPD Officer Planned on Beating Protesters ahead of March
  2. NYPD Cop Punches Protester
  3. NYPD Runs Over a Legal Observers Foot
  4. Protesters Punished by NYPD
  5. NYPD Pepper Sprays Protesters

Just think, there are only 5 links, but if you go to youtube and type in NYPD occupy wall street, there are THOUSANDS that show up. No person deserves pepper spray to the face, it can cause ulcers, blindness and can cause permanent damage to the sinus cavities as well. Pepper spray is not meant to be aimed at the face, it is designed to be aimed at the chest or stomach. Use it right or not at all.

Welcome to The Blog of the People

Welcome to The Blog of the People.
Below you will find some pictures of a wonderful group of people known as Octi-pie. They are a group who have offered a platform for great conversation about the 99% and some delicious, free, homemade pies. Located in the downtown area of Dover, De, this group has offered people pie for several days now, only taking short breaks while out there. They offer not only free pie and good conversation though, oh no, they also offer some entertainment of the juggling variety. The young lads are out at Legislative Mall every day they can afford.

Our young friends of Octi-Pie!!!!

Moving on to the Occupy Wall St. Movement.

Now I'm sure many of you have heard some nasty remarks regarding the Occupy Wall St. You have probably wondered "What is this whole thing about?"

As a protester myself, I'm going to make it very, VERY simple for you. Corporate Greed! That simple. We are trying to get the government to listen  to us, THE PEOPLE, that things are unfair for the working class people. The People who are having to work 3-4 jobs just to survive. The People who are homeless, the People who have mental disorders who have had backs turned on them. The People who NEED Healthcare and can't afford it. The People who are tired of getting screwed by a government that doesn't listen and lied to by a media that doesn't care. Corporations buy and sell our Senate AND our Congress. Our Government gives money to these Corporations to move their companies across seas, gives them tax cuts even though they don't pay enough as it is, and in all honesty, the corporations just don't care about the little guy. "They will sell you the rope to hang themselves with if they can make a profit of it." Micheal Moore from the movie The Corporation.
We do not hate the corporations however, but their ACTIONS AND the actions of the Government who lets them go.

"They are Communists, Liberals, Marxists, Anarchists, Socialists, Dirty Pot Smoking Hippies."

Hmm, I'm going to break this down. To start with Yes, SOME are, but not everyone falls into one of these categories. People are using Communism, Socialism, Marxism, Anarchism and any other form of government they don't agree with as a derogatory term. Here's the definitions of the different isms as the dirty pot smoking hippy this isn't even really a relative set of terms to classify anyone by.

Communism- is a social, political and economic movement that aims at the establishment of a classless and stateless communist society structured upon common ownership of the means of production. This ideology significantly influenced the history of the 20th century, which witnessed intense rivalry between the "socialist world" (communist states) and the "capitalist world" (countries with market economy and democratic forms of government), culminated in the Cold War between the Eastern bloc and the "Free World".

Socialism- is an economic system in which the means of production are either state owned or commonly owned and controlled cooperatively; or a political philosophy advocating such a system. As a form of social organization, socialism is based on co-operative social relations and self-management; relatively equal power-relations and the reduction or elimination of hierarchy in the management of economic and political affairs.

Marxism- is an economic and socio-political worldview and method of socioeconomic inquiry that centers upon a materialist interpretation of history, a dialectical view of social change, and an analysis and critique of the development of capitalism. Marxism was pioneered in the early to mid 19th century by two German philosophers, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marxism encompasses Marxian economic theory, a sociological theory and a revolutionary view of social change that has influenced socialist political movements around the world.

Anarchism- is generally defined as the political philosophy which holds the state to be immoral, or alternatively as opposing authority in the conduct of human relations. Proponents of anarchism (known as "anarchists") advocate stateless societies based on non-hierarchical voluntary associations.

Now you know the general definitions of these, none of these are "Naughty". They each have their positive attributes, so why use them in a derogatory manner? These are the same people who you work with, see on the bus, go to school with, see walking with their families and shopping at the mall with a kid. Do not insult them for standing up for their rights when they see something is wrong. They are exerting their first amendment right. If you don't agree with it, just keep silent and keep moving on, you must have so much more going for you with 4 jobs, 80 hr work weeks, and a pension that has probably been spent by the very company you work for, that is, if you have a pension.

I will show you the protests and general assemblies as they happen here in Delaware, no lies, no beating around the bush. I will also show you how people feel and the opinions of those as INDIVIDUALS AND as a GROUP as a WHOLE. I will post poems, songs, videos, photos or even testimonials and thoughts of those who wish to have their voice heard. It will be unedited, raw, and to some, offensive; but it will be the truth. Take it as you will at your own risk.

THE PEOPLE UNITED CAN NEVER BE DIVIDED!!!!!!
